Pickup – Your Hotel

Your journey begins with pickup from your hotel in Reykjavík or nearby area. We head east out of the city, passing through scenic farmland and volcanic landscapes on the way toward one of Iceland’s most historically rich valleys.

Drive Through South Iceland

Enjoy a comfortable drive through the South Iceland countryside, with views of rivers, mountains, and vast open fields shaped by volcanic activity over centuries.

Þjórsárdalur Valley Arrival

We arrive in the beautiful Þjórsárdalur valley, a hidden gem nestled between rugged mountains and glaciers. The area is known for its unique mix of nature, history, and Viking heritage.

Gjáin Valley

Explore the magical oasis of Gjáin, a lush green valley filled with small waterfalls, lava formations, and peaceful walking paths. This fairytale-like location is one of Iceland’s most photogenic hidden spots.

Háifoss Waterfall

Next, we visit Háifoss, one of Iceland’s tallest waterfalls. Watch as the river plunges dramatically into a deep canyon, often accompanied by the nearby Granni waterfall.

Stöng Viking Farm & Þjóðveldisbærinn

Step back in time with a visit to the reconstructed Viking-era farm at Þjóðveldisbærinn, based on the excavated ruins of Stöng. Learn about how Icelanders lived during the Saga Age before volcanic eruptions reshaped the valley.

Hjálparfoss Waterfall

We continue to Hjálparfoss, a unique double waterfall set in a striking basalt landscape. This peaceful spot was historically a resting place for travelers crossing the harsh highlands.

Return to Reykjavík

After a day of exploring waterfalls, history, and hidden landscapes, we head back to Reykjavík in the afternoon, arriving in the evening.

Please Note

Before setting off on your unforgettable journey through Iceland’s stunning landscapes, please take a moment to review the important information below. This helps ensure your experience is safe, comfortable, and tailored to your needs — from accessibility to weather preparation.

Accessibility

Our tours are conducted in private vehicles and can often be customized for travelers with limited mobility. However, some natural sites such as waterfalls, beaches, and viewpoints may involve uneven terrain or short walks that may not be fully wheelchair accessible. If you or someone in your group requires mobility assistance or a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, please inform us in advance so we can make the necessary arrangements.

Infant and Child Safety

Our tours are family friendly, and infant or child seats are available upon request. Please let us know the number and ages of children in your group before departure so we can provide the appropriate safety equipment.

Weather and Conditions

Iceland’s weather is famously unpredictable and can change quickly. For safety and comfort, itineraries may occasionally be adjusted due to weather or road conditions. Your guide will always ensure you experience the best possible locations while prioritizing safety.

Clothing and Footwear

We recommend wearing warm, layered, and waterproof clothing as conditions can be cool and damp throughout the year. Sturdy, non slip footwear is essential when exploring areas around waterfalls, beaches, and hiking paths. Even in summer, temperatures near glaciers and waterfalls can feel chilly.

Tour Duration and Activity Level

Most tours are full day experiences lasting approximately 10 to 12 hours, including scenic stops and short walks. Activity levels are generally light to moderate, and the pace can be adjusted to suit your preferences and comfort.

Pickup and Drop Off

Convenient pickup and drop off are available at your hotel, guesthouse, or preferred location in Reykjavík or nearby areas. Private transportation ensures comfort and flexibility throughout the journey.

Safety and Equipment

Any required safety equipment for outdoor or adventure segments will be provided by your guide. All tours are led by experienced professionals who prioritize safety and ensure every guest feels comfortable and well looked after.

Our tours offer a personalized and flexible experience for travelers of all ages. Whether you are traveling as a couple, family, or private group, every detail is designed to provide a smooth and memorable journey through Iceland’s breathtaking landscapes.

What Should I Bring?

Prepare for a day of adventure exploring Iceland’s dramatic landscapes. To make the most of your experience, we recommend bringing the following essentials for comfort and safety.

Warm Layered Clothing

Iceland’s weather can change quickly, so dressing in layers is key.

  • Thermal base layers

  • Fleece or wool mid layer

  • Waterproof and windproof jacket and pants

Sturdy Waterproof Footwear

Comfortable hiking boots or shoes with good grip are recommended, as many locations feature uneven or slippery ground.

Cold Weather Accessories

Bring gloves, a warm hat or beanie, and a neck gaiter. Even during summer, areas near glaciers, waterfalls, and the coast can feel quite cool.

Sunglasses and Sunscreen

Sunlight reflecting off glaciers, water, and black sand can be bright. Sunglasses and sunscreen are recommended even on cloudy days.

Snacks and Water

Although café stops are often available along the way, bringing light snacks and a refillable water bottle is a good idea. Iceland’s tap water is among the cleanest in the world and can be refilled anywhere.

Small Daypack

A small waterproof backpack is perfect for carrying essentials such as extra layers, snacks, water, and your camera.

Camera or Smartphone

Iceland offers incredible photo opportunities everywhere you go. Bring a fully charged phone or camera, and consider a power bank so you don’t miss a moment.

Pro Tip: Dress in layers, pack light, and be ready for changing weather. With the right preparation, your journey through Iceland will be comfortable, smooth, and unforgettable.
